Handy tips for sellers on how to prepare a bedroom for your real estate photography session.
Making sure that bedrooms, especially the owner’s suite, appear clean and relaxing in listing photos is very important. Luckily, getting it prepped for your listing photography appointment is pretty straightforward.
Bedroom
Clean and declutter the space. Be sure to hide remotes, magazines, laptops, tablets, and other small items. Minimize or eliminate personal items such as framed family photos or diplomas.
Neatly make the bed. Keep any pillows matching or complementary in color or pattern, and position them in a consistent manner. Blankets may be left if they are clean, matching, and arranged in a decorative manner.
Closet
A walk-in closet can be a huge selling point in a home, so it is often photographed during an appointment. Before the appointment, be sure to declutter the space and organize it so that it appears tidy and spacious. Make sure that there are no items on the floor, as they will make the space appear smaller.
Bathroom
As with the other bathrooms in the home, clean and declutter the space. The counters should be cleared other than soap in a clean dispenser and, if desired, a minimal decoration. Any extra cleaning or personal care items should be stored out of view.
On The Day
When the day of your appointment arrives, be sure to give the room a quick cleaning, turn off and dust the fan, and turn on all lights. Any window coverings and blinds should be either halfway open or fully open (matching the rest of the home).
Once your photographer arrives, they are happy to work with you and your agent to make sure that your listing photos, walkthrough video, virtual tour, and/or drone photos show off the home in the best way possible.
