What are some spots that are often overlooked when cleaning before your session?
Going through the process of getting a house on the market and preparing for a move can be overwhelming. During the fray, it’s easy to overlook small items before a listing photography appointment, but some make a big difference in photos. In order to help, we put together a comprehensive guide to help with the process.
One of the most important steps of a homeowner’s preparation is ensuring that the home is as clean as possible. This provides a tidy and well-kept look in photos. Below are some spots that are often overlooked.
Outdoors
Outside of the home it is important to make sure that sheds and garages are organized and swept out if they will be included in photography. If these spaces will not be photographed, they are a great place to store any items that you have removed from the rest of the home.
Spiderwebs and any debris buildup in them should be removed from the home as they can show up in photographs.
Finally, make sure that the home’s gutters are cleaned out of any visible leaves, sticks, etc.
Indoors
Commonly overlooked inside are air vents, ceiling fans, windows, and closets.
Air vents and ceiling fans should be thoroughly dusted so that there is no visible accumulation of dust, cobwebs, etc.
Windows should be wiped clean to allow the most light possible into the home, the sills should be wiped clean of any dirt, and the blinds should be thoroughly dusted/wiped down.
If there are any large closets or storage areas that will be photographed during the appointment, it is important that they are decluttered, organized, and thoroughly swept/vacuumed.
