Buyers Want Pools

Pools became more desirable during the pandemic, and the trend appears to be sticking around.



Outdoor spaces have taken on a new importance over the past year and a half. Buyers are placing more emphasis on having a home that can accommodate indoor-outdoor living, and specifically, they are looking for homes with pools to facilitate just that. 


What Buyers Want

NAR recently published an article looking at this trend, and they contend that pools seem to be continuing to draw unprecedented attention. They go on to say that buyers appear willing to pay a premium for homes with inground pools; sales prices for these homes, in some areas, are $50k-$100k more than comparable homes without a pool.

Part of the premium, according to NAR, appears to come from the fact that companies who construct pools are incredibly busy, so buyers want to purchase a home with a pool already installed. Even a pool that needs some maintenance or restoration can be attractive to buyers. It is often less time-consuming and expensive to fix one up rather than installing a new one.
